It shows your true poet's instinct that at the touch of your pen the word "and" becomes not mere filler, but a syllable of power to urge along the meter and build anticipation. Deftly written - bravo!
Josh -- this is spiritually inspiring and linguisticly beautiful. I'm not so good at memorizing poetry as when younger, but this is well worth the effort!
" ... Say something we can learn by heart,
And when alone repeat... "
(Robert Frost)
And, of course the passage from Luke with which you prefaced it is well fixed in my mind and heart.
WOW, that is high praise, Gracey. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and leave a comment!! I am incredibly glad this resonated with you, and I'm saying a prayer for you now. :)
I am so happy to hear this encouraged you today, Emma! It was something that I needed to write. I'm praying for you, Emma! I am encouraged by the comfort that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted, for He himself has a broken heart. It was pierced at the cross for our sins, and it breaks again every time we sin. Jesus loves us, and He will work everything together for the good of those who love Him!
Thank you very much, sir!! I find myself falling into 8-6-8-6 now without even trying. It's fun, and I love it. You're very right about it feeling just right. 😂
Lovely, Mr. Josh! 😊 I especially like your lines:
"In its beak is an olive branch
And in its eyes are light,
And in its wings are peace and hope..."

This is the kind of apt observation I expect from you, Ms. Mae. Thank you for pointing out my own cleverness by demonstrating your own. 😂
I'm highly complimented by this, Ms. Mae. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. :)

Thank you, Mr. Wait!
If this is encouraging to you and something you want to keep with you at all times, I would be honored by your memorization of this poem. :)
That passage from the Gospel of Luke makes me want to tear up with joy. Not enough people know about it, and we must change that ASAP!
Thank you for taking the time to read and comment, sir!
That opening has a quiet, hymn-like weight to it.
Thank you, Gabriel! I appreciate your taking the time to read and to kindly say that! :)

Thank you so, so much, Esther Dawn!! God bless! :)
Whenever I come across poetry that I really like, I write it down in a special notebook, so I can remember it.
I pulled out my notebook right after reading this poem.
